New Website is Coming..

fieldwork’s new website will be up and running June 14.  At that time, it will be located at www.fieldworkproject.com.The new site will be easier to navigate, feature more photo documentation of our installations, and lots of information about the artists and their work.  Please be patient with us as content is added over the next couple of months.  We are also hoping to move the existing posts from this blog to the new site by summer’s end so that the documentation of our past year is also at the new site.  As always we appreciate your curiosity and interest in the project and hope you’ll continue to visit us either online or in person!

Heavenly Blue - Erin Robertson’s New Installation

hevenly blue installation

Erin Robertson installed her piece Heavenly Blue last weekend in the field.  So far, he has received at least one wave from someone driving by thinking he was a real person standing in the field!  More about this installation to come….

prayer flags

A beautiful gesture by my neighbours dedicated to an inspired and generous member of our community whose spirit will live on.

Prayer Flags

The hanging of Tibetan Prayer Flags has a long history. According to an article by Timothy Clark that I found online,

‘The ancient Buddhist prayers, mantras and powerful symbols displayed on them produce a spiritual vibration that is activated and carried by the wind across the countryside.  All beings that are touched by the wind are uplifted and a little happier.  The silent prayers are blessings spoken on the breath of nature. Just as a drop of water can permeate the ocean, prayers dissolved in the wind extend to fill all of space.’

Thaw

like a wave particles free

energy frozen releases

relieved

thaw puddles a brittle heart

mild

muffling the clarity of direction

fragments emerging

dead old and dry

memories from before

not yet dissembled to soil

winter thaw glimpses

the other side

revolution or evolution coming?

dead of winter

2 steps forward one back

a slow sidelong shuffle

towards spring

delight

I have to admit to feeling so delighted each time I discover something new that has been added to the Beacon. This week, ski tracks came out of the bush behind the field and straight to the Beacon. There was a small poem inscribed on birch bark and posted on the tree.  Other small wonders- a snail shell, a bird, a photo of my neighbour’s goat, and some beautiful prayer flags (more on them in the last posting). It (the Beacon) seems to be taking on its own life now.
