Beacon in situ

It is amazing what one can do in an hour with a chain saw, a back hoe, a shovel, and a big, beautiful, old, dead pine tree. My neighbour, Dave, leant his expertise and machinery to the cause yesterday and dragged a gorgeous old pine pole from a swampy roadside spot just down the road, to its winter home in the Field. This ‘beacon’ will become part of my winter installation ‘Winter Gestures/Beacon Whispers‘ which is beginning to take shape.  More detailed information about the goings on in the field this winter will be coming so check back to see what’s happening and how you can participate.

Here, for now, are some pictures of the beacon being ‘relocated’ to the Field.

Peeling Out

tiremarks 2

It seems that someone’s taken to doing a bit of performance art in the Field…Some ‘gesture’ drawings with a car I believe!  Donuts around the signs and all.  I heard the car squeal to a halt as it passed by a few nights ago and reverse, gravel flying, into the field, pause by a sign, then peel out (apparently in a tight circle), and continue on its/his/her merry, gravel spewing, way.  Ah, the adrenaline!!

signs installed

Well, we finally got the Fieldwork signs installed in-situ last Sunday.  Hooray! Finally, the drivers-by can have something to refer to when they look out into the field and see a big cage in the middle of it…  ’what is going on????’

Our blog is taking a bit longer than anticipated but is slowly coming together as we work out some kinks.  Please bear with us and check back regularly to see what’s new both online and at the site.  We will eventually have more information about us (the fieldworkers/artists), the project as it progresses, photo documentation and more.  Finally, if you are ‘in the hood’ please do stop by the field.  We are just a quick dash from hwy 7 between Perth and Maberly.  (see ‘About Fieldwork’ in the Links section for more directions)
